It’s Monday and I arrived to find that Inman didn’t reserve me a room.

We had negotiated upon my departure that my attendance here would essentially count as a severance. But I was never an employee so the term doesn’t apply. I did see it as a good gesture, at least in part. Apparently not every detail was covered. So that’s an awesome way to begin. Who knows where I’ll be on Wednesday night. I know where I won’t be—the good graces of the event host.

Nevertheless I’ll soon be folding a piece of Original Ray’s down my grocery-hole then heading to a pitch battle at the OS Gaming Lounge, which is co-owned by Homecode Reviews’ Troy Palmquist.

I don’t know why proptech founders need to do so much battle. What are they fighting for? I know most of the companies in it and Troy. He’s good for real estate and last year this was a fun event. But the entire pitch battle concept is wearing on me. I don’t like to see innovative people singing for their supper. Plus, so much judgement. Most of the time it’s for a few minutes of street cred and a badge to put on a website. I’ve seen what some of these founders go through to prep for these things and it’s a lot.

Best of luck to the combatants.
